Is there anything fishy in the Australian Medicare system?
Medical practitioners in Australia are in the news, not for giving any specialised medical treatment to any patient with a grave disease - but for surmised $2b Medicare scam.

Tony Webber (ex-Director, Professional Services Review) brought the questionable Medicare system in light, and asked for a thorough critical review of the matter. When I shared the word with my friend (Enigma Marketing) who knows a lot about various Medicare schemes and services, he felt this was false news.

Even the Australian Medical Association has ruled out things, stating that it does not find anything fishy in the Healthcare system.

About the surmised scam, the ex-Director(PSR) took an aim on unprincipled doctors, and dropped a line in the Medical Journal of Australia about some that often claim for unneeded medical procedures; though he said, there are a few (exceptions) that follow ethics and do not order unnecessary examinations to their patients, be it - radiology, pathology or other.

Every year about $2-$3 billion is being squandered, due to weak standards and measures (Medicare system); it is like, doctors make up their mind on examinations that they order and claim further for that, which Tony Webber feels is not a right thing.

Do you think Medicare needs to adapt with modern medicine, or it has been done already?

About the current scenario - it seems healthcare sector is getting into the groove with the corporate culture, as the focus is shifting more to MONEY (unnecessary examinations/procedures) than 'patient-service'.
