An Australian Style Folded Hat Called 'Aussie'
You may have worn this hat called "Aussie" or have you? They say It is quiet common, but then why "Aussie"...you may wonder. Let me answer this for you - this is so because this Australian style folded hat which gives you a cowboy look is called "Aussie"- meaning a "headwear".

Why I am saying so much about this, you might even wonder again. I write about 'Aussies'  because a friend of me who's working with Magnum Marketing, recently gifted me with this hat, telling here's an Aussie for you. When he said "Aussie", even I wondered. But then when he explained to me what an "aussie" meant, I was happy to share this to all here...

Aussies are wide-brimmed (cowboy) style hats that are modeled after a hat whose look originated in the Australian military (slouch hat), giving the hat its name. One of the common features in an "aussie" is the fold on either or both sides of the hat. The sides can be folded up, at an angle or enough to touch the dome of the hat. Often, the aussie is not completely flat. The hat arches from front to back and comes down behind the head. This hat style is favored by all types: sailors, outdoorsmen, and the Cavaliers Drum and Bugle Corps, the Crossmen Drum and Bugle Corps, Santa Clara Vanguard Drum and Bugle Corps, and Reading Buccaneers Drum and Bugle Corps.

For your information: This expression is not used in Australia. :O
