Does Flying an Aussie Flag in Car Means Something?
The title itself has the question, and do you think that it is connected to something? 'Yes, it is' says a research done on 'Australia Day' last year to find out whether there was a link between car flag flying and racist attitudes.

When I came across this report, it prompted me to ask the same question to one of my friends who has spend most of his years in Australia. He is now with Oracle Advertising. And, he said," there's a notion like that going, that if one had to be a true Australian, they should have something of their country to show patriotism, and the flag  the ideal choice".

Hospitals or Santa Claus in disguise!
If you think it is only Santa Claus that could bring you FREE GIFTS, then you are wrong.

It is not Santa this time, but St. Vincent's Hospital (Melbourne) that is giving all NEW mothers a reason to 'smile' on their way back home earlier than scheduled after the delivery. I feel sorry about Patrick from Appco Group, whose wife could not bring in 'goodies' from the hospital that she had delivered two beautiful angels at, recently. No double BONANZA for him. (Smile!)

"Australian Jobqueues to Flood with the Banks Homecoming"!
As the "EXPATRIATE bankers" are returning back to Australia in their droves this year, it would ramp up the competition for finance jobs, employment experts expect. This news made me little nervous as I was looking for a jump-start for my career in finance.

The Financial services professionals in London, Dubai, New York and Hong Kong are the most likely to come back as the Australian dollar remains high and economies overseas deteriorate. There would be many candidates for jobs as a result. But, my friend who has got good deal with direct marketing firms- Blackcode Advertising assured me that these professional banks, who're returning home are laden with increased skills and considerable international experience.

Is there anything fishy in the Australian Medicare system?
Medical practitioners in Australia are in the news, not for giving any specialised medical treatment to any patient with a grave disease - but for surmised $2b Medicare scam.

Tony Webber (ex-Director, Professional Services Review) brought the questionable Medicare system in light, and asked for a thorough critical review of the matter. When I shared the word with my friend (Enigma Marketing) who knows a lot about various Medicare schemes and services, he felt this was false news.

Australian Spending On the Increase!
"AUSTRALIANS' credit card balances are worth just over $50 billion, the highest ever, as the consumer love affair of spending shows no signs of ending." This latest news was a clutch point for me as my friend and I had an argument the other day on Australian spending.

This news gave me a valid point to make, as I had argued with my friend (working for TC World Ltd), that Australians spends too much of what they earn.

More Kiwis are flying in for the 'almighty' Australian dollars!
If you find a lot of Kiwis (people) fly in from New Zealand to Australia, then do not think they are there for any cricket match at the Melbourne cricket ground, but then for WORK and MONEY!

I got to hear this from a friend of mine with Web Listings Inc., who I always find occupied with his computer over the Internet optimizing some of his client websites; and he had to share with me the story – he said, good job opportunities and higher wages in Australia are the prime reasons why 'more and more' New Zealanders are moving into that territory to make a living.

Blow to the Australian soft-drink market!
Think of soft-drinks without froth/bubbles, we know you can never; yes, after a big-chunk of meat you may not get now aerated drinks to placate your tummy, as the soft-drink market is short of 'CO2' (carbon dioxide) supplies.

Yes, the soft-drink makers in Australia are finding it tough with the essential ingredient for beverages - CO2, which helps to form bubbles and something that you are not unaware about. My husband with Enza Marketing is on his way to Australia for a business symposium, and with a man like him who can never do without beverages it definitely is not going to be a fun time there (Smile!).

The wintry December was 'cold' for the Australian automotive sector!
If it is the automotive sector in the Australian market in the previous year 2011, then following were the bad performers: heavy commercial vehicles, light trucks, and passenger vehicles.

But then sports utility vehicles (SUVs) did not disappoint the Aussies, as compared to the previous year it could end up registering more sales volume for the segment. My brother who is with Flash Organisation Ltd. has an SUV that he never gets out of, no matter where he wants to go with it.

What does it make you to be a Great Marketer in 2012?
This can be common question among most marketers today, particularly in the current, difficult environment. Earlier (old days), marketers were the unsung heroes of B2B companies. They usually did nothing to be really active but getting on with usual campaigns, organising trade show stands, managing databases etc. Most of the things were left to the sales team, or the MD.

But the credit crunch plus the digital revolution created a ‘perfect storm’. The consequences for B2B marketers were more pressure, less time; less budget, more fickle clients, greater scrutiny and interference from the board, and more stressed and agitated sales and finance people. To cope with this new environment, B2B marketers have had to change. Often Optimization over the web does the trick. But, it has to be done effectively by experienced hands like Web Technologies Inc. and the others in the field.

The Australian way of Direct Marketing
Every country is different in its approach to marketing and selling. And, the way that you define selling will impact your sales results and successes.

Suppose that you think selling/marketing is all about persuading and convincing people to buy your product. If you have this definition of selling, chances are high that you will resist selling, and you will experience significant sales resistance from your prospects too. Large marketing groups like Appco Group have this resisting power to establish their business in every niche market.

Every man counts in a team...
The land Down Under can teach us all much. Every country in the world is different, and every man is different; human qualities, characteristics and skills, the way people think and act - everything vary; but, when people come together for a purpose, and they think and act together - then, the effect of team-work is something 'beyond' words, and this is something that we ALL need to learn from Aussies.

It is about integrated teamwork that ensures results, be it a business scenario in a company like Coulson Organisation, or any other sector - the golden rules of teamwork and collaboration works the same way, for all...

An Australian Style Folded Hat Called 'Aussie'
You may have worn this hat called "Aussie" or have you? They say It is quiet common, but then why "Aussie"...you may wonder. Let me answer this for you - this is so because this Australian style folded hat which gives you a cowboy look is called "Aussie"- meaning a "headwear".

Why I am saying so much about this, you might even wonder again. I write about 'Aussies'  because a friend of me who's working with Magnum Marketing, recently gifted me with this hat, telling here's an Aussie for you. When he said "Aussie", even I wondered. But then when he explained to me what an "aussie" meant, I was happy to share this to all here...

What Aussies hate in Marketing
Maybe it’s one of the uglier faces of the Aussie character, Australians seem to gain from watching extremely successful people being played low.
It has been acknowledged, though, this is rarely a circumstance suffered by elite group of sports stars, but can this for business also.
In fact it is to do with more adorable Australian traits. A lot of Australian habit was contrived through hardship. Australia’s popular poem; A Sunburnt Country by Henry Lawson is fine testimonial to this view. The early settlers had a tough life and till date its the “Working Class” who is more looked forwared as the true Aussie hero. Australians has some kind of odd feeling when they spot rich and successful poeple,  flashing their money. This is supported by an natural suspicion that the wealth acquired by them was by taking advantage of their fellow man. Maybe that’s why sportsman or sports stars are more honoured, since they know the basis of their success.
So how does this connect to marketing? Well Successful brand marketing is completely about making a far-flung consumer intimacy with the brand. And contrary to  other civilisations, Aussies aren’t prospective to fall in for brand because of a intention of elitism. An executive from Blackcode Advertising that does business in various part of UK, once emphasized how they follow each step carefully not to offend the local culture to promote their product.
Small and big enterprises in particular should know that simply pushing their brand as “the best” will never work, leave aside being successful marketing strategy. Some of the companies need to demonstrate why their product be termed as good or bad. And if you are going to win over Australians, please keep those reason handy. Big brand owners in Aus need not recreate marketing campaigns which have been successful in the USA or the UK.

Haircare ‘Aussie’ style!
When it comes to haircare, a number of products may come to your mind. But then, why don't you choose an 'Aussie' product for your hair?

There are plenty of brands in the market known for various haircare products and services and for personal care nothing works like direct marketing. Redwoods Advance is being distinguished as one such brand for direct marketers, if ‘Aussie’ is meant for Haircare. Let us see a bit of what Aussie is...

Gifts that Aussies love

Just like any other country or region, Australians too have their unique tastes for gifts. What might look like a good gift to you might not be much appreciated by an Aussie and hence there is a lot of thought required when you go about choosing a gift for someone from this continent.

Liza, my best friend, and I were planning to tour Australia during the Christmas holidays with the extra money we had saved during the year. Being a part of a reputed direct marketing company (she works at Oracle Advertising) and having met people from a lot of places, Lisa had a better idea about the Australian etiquette and I was counting on her to give me tips.

“Australians love wine and beer” she started her narration. Thank to the direct marketing executive position that she held, Liza had quite developed the quality of giving elaborate details. But I was sure that I was going to love this one.  "Oh! So, a wine bottle would be a perfect gift for my uncle, who resides in Queensland’, I thought. As a very valuable tip she told me that most of the Australians knew their grapes and so purchasing a good bottle of locally produced wine would be a great gift idea.

Why an Aussie might be the right choice for you? PDF Print E-mail
An Aussie for you sounds like a good idea to me. Well, the following are my reasons -

Like many people out there, buying a puppy of a particular breed is probably a decision you will take after a lot of thought. Falling in love with a cute puppy is not a mistake but it can turn out to be one if  the puppy you buy is not ideal for your lifestyle. And so, an Australian Shepherd might indeed turn out to be a right choice for you. There are also chances that you may feel it is not the dog of your choice, however our discussion is sure to help.

The Aussie which was initially brought up to be a ranch and farm dog became the favorite of many owners who owned the breed for being a perfect companion and guardian as well. Not only does he work livestock but the Aussie is intelligent and very trainable at the same time. Recently I ran into a  a friend of mine who worked with Appco Group Australia and who is a proud owner of one such Aussie. In full praise for the breed, my friend was saying that he has developed such a strong bond with this dog. “My Aussie can manage livestock, be my child's playmate and even play Frisbee” he said with glee.

And hence if you have livestock and looking for a great working partner who can be extremely loyal to you as well, an Aussie is definitely the right choice for you.
